As of Friday 11 February 2022, the Bassins des Lumières will hold two new immersive digital exhibitions: a long programme, "Venice, from Canaletto to Monet", and a short programme, "Sorolla, Promenades Beside the Sea".

Long Programme: "Venice, from Canaletto to Monet"

The immersive exhibition takes visitors on a journey of discovery of the artistic and architectural treasures of the city of Venice. As they explore the Grand Canal and the canals, lanes, squares, buildings, and churches the visitors are taken on a journey through Venetian interiors and exteriors—both holy and secular—in search of the visible symbols of the city’s extraordinary history. For around forty minutes, the visitors will be immersed in Byzantine art and the impressive golden mosaics of Saint Mark’s Basilica, the masterpieces of Tintoretto, Bellini, and Canaletto, and the famous Mostra del Cinema, with photos of the actresses and actors of Italian neorealist films.

Short Programme: "Sorolla, Promenades Besides the Sea"

The painter of light, Joaquín Sorolla was one of the leading Spanish painters of the twentieth century. Combining realism and lyricism, the artist depicted the beauty of the seaside. The immersive exhibition retraces his entire oeuvre: from his regionalist interpretations of Spain to his family portraits, landscapes, and gardens, and the representations of the seaside that made him internationally famous.
