The Hôtel de Caumont
Located near the Cours Mirabeau thoroughfare, in the Mazarin district, the Hôtel de Caumont has a paved Cour d’Honneur and over 1,000 m² of private gardens. The mansion’s rooms, with their refined décor, recreate the atmosphere and aesthetic characteristics of the eighteenth century. The art centre holds major temporary exhibitions dedicated to the great masters in art history, from the fourteenth century to the present day. An important cultural centre in Aix-en-Provence, it is a place in which art can be discovered and shared with passion.
Exhibition "Raoul Dufy: a passion for colour"
6 May-18 September 2022
In 2022, the Hôtel de Caumont Art Centre will focus on the work of the French painter Raoul Dufy (1877 - 1953). Presenting more than ninety works, largely from the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris, and also from French and international public and private collections, the exhibition reflects the artist’s great virtuosity, employing a wide variety of techniques, from oils to watercolour, drawing, engraving and ceramics.
The exhibition presents paintings, drawings, and ceramic articles, as well as Dufy’s highly subtle illustration work—which highlights his talent as a draughtsman and colourist.
Exhibition "Yves Klein, intimate"
28 October 2022-26 March 2023
Produced in collaboration with the Archives Yves Klein, the exhibition ‘Yves Klein, intime’ (‘Yves Klein, intimate’) in Aix-en-Provence is presenting for the first time around sixty works by the Nice-born artist from a fresh perspective. Given the public nature of Klein’s oeuvre and its resolutely spectacular, even mythical qualities, the exhibition explores the complementary personal an dintimate dimensions of the artist’s life and work.
