A unique fact in all of Europe, the Battlefield, farms and buildings were the deadly clashed of June 1815 took place have been entirely preserved, thanks to a Belgian law passed in 1914 intended to preserve the site by including the Battlefield in Europe’s heritage.
Today, the Battlefield of Waterloo is one of the biggest European historic and cultural sites, and one of the best preserved. It welcomes more than 300,000 visitors from all over the world ever year.
The Battlefield is also an exceptional site where silence reigns and where meditation is a way of life.
