For 6 to 11 year olds: 5 playshops (guided tour included)
Greek writing : pupils learn about the alphabets of ancient times and reproduce their names on a parchment.
Aim: to familiarise children with the alphabet in various forms and to approach writing through play.
Mythological journey: based on a question sheet about the origins and attributes of Greek gods,
pupils will observe the magnificent statues in the Galerie des Antiques.
Aim: to introduce pupils to the main Greek myths and to the philosophy of the ancient world…
Drawing ancient gods: pupils draw a god, a goddess or a hero from statues in the Galerie des Antiques.
Aim: to discover movement, proportions, folds, etc.
Making a mask: using a mould from Greek theatre, pupils make their own mask inspired by comedy and tragedy.
Aim: to learn about and use bronze, earth, stone, etc.
Plate decorating: pupils decorate cardboard plates, taking their inspiration from the patterns on Greek vases.
Aim: to discover the main geometric motifs used in the decorative arts of ancient times.
For 7 to 12 year olds: the Ulysses Club
Guided tour of the Villa.
Educational workshop on Ulysses: the adventures of Ulysses (Odysseus in Greek), a geographical map of the ancient Mediterranean, stamps game, question sheets on understanding Odysseus.
Discussion and debate about Homer’s work “The Odyssey”: at the end of the school year, classes which have taken part in the Ulysses Club over the year will be invited to come and have discussions between themselves in order to recreate the magical atmosphere of the Greek agora.
Visit no. 1: Greek writing

• Lecture on the origins of the alphabet: the development of writing, techniques and media (papyrus, parchment, etc.).
• Greek writing workshop: reproducing Greek words on a parchment.
Visit no. 2: Introduction to ancient Greek theatre
• Guided tour of the Villa.
• Lecture on the classical authors (Euripides’ Medea, Sophocles’ Antigone).
• Workshop on the customs and traditions of ancient times.
Visit no. 3: Temples from Ancient Greece to Magna Graecia
• Guided tour of the Villa.
• Lecture on temple architecture: inspiration and influences.
• Workshop on ancient gods and religions (Greece, Italy, India, etc.).
